First off! Happy New Year.
Second, its been awhile, but I promise, I've been busy. One of the things I've been busy working on is a commission. Which I have permission to post and share! So here it is, Raven Hex from Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose!

Adam was also kind enough to send me a picture of it hanging on his wall:

It's so pretty!
I really enjoyed working on this one. It was quite a challenge, having to figure out how to put in all that black without using a marker. So thanks again to Adam for asking me to do this and for giving me a good old challenge! The piece is 11x17 on Bristol Comic Board done in 100% pencil.

I'll be posting some new marker sketches later this week, beginning of next, so keep a look out.

Not to long ago, I came up with a cute idea(at least I think so)for a Pin Up featuring Cherri Creeper from Holly Golightly's "School Bites".
The idea was, that Cherri raided Tarot's closet and donned Tarot's magickal armor. Tarot isn't too pleased about it and neither is Bing the Bat:

First off, I've been without a scanner for the last month or so. Our computer decided it'd had enough and died and fried it's memory, taking pretty much everything I'm used to using on a daily basis with it. This meant I wasn't able to properly do pages for Broadsword either, though I managed with an older Photoshop program that could be described as "clunky" at best.
On top of that, I got transferred at my day job to a place an hour away from home, which left me exhausted and not feeling very creative.
Things are looking up now, I've been re-transferred to a closer location, my boyfriend got the scanner working and I got a updated version of Photoshop thanks to a friend, so now I can get back to my art!
I have a few pieces lined up for ebay, this one of Emma Frost being one of them. I also have a personal piece that I'm working on that I hope to experiment with, both in marker and in Photoshop. I'll post it as soon as I'm done. For now, enjoy Ms. Frost!

Like I said before, I took the lines of the original 9x12 piece and scanned it in. I then printed it out and took my new set of Prismacolor Gray Tone markers to it as well as a splash of red. I think it came out pretty nicely.
So this is Prismacolor Markers on 8.5x11 cardstock.

This Marker Sketch comes courtesy of my boyfriend. He suggested that Vampirella do something sexy with an actual stake and I ran with it. I think it came out pretty decent.

I scanned in the inks to this before I colored it. I got a couple new sets of warm and cool gray markers from Prismacolor that I want to try on the scan, depending how that turns out, I'll more than likely post it in a day or two.
I haven't decided if I'll put this on ebay or not, but if I do, I'll be sure to make a post about it here!

So I did a little marker sketch for myself yesterday. Well actually, not so little. The piece is done on 11x17 Bristol Comic Board and inked with micron felt tip pens and colored with a mixture of Prismacolor and Copic markers. I went with the "Little Mermaid" colors, as those were the colors that stood out in my head when I started it. Truthfully, I could of gone with anything else, but I wanted it to be vibrant.

On another note, it is a New Year and as previously stated, I'm excited about it. Its a convenient time for fresh starts. Out with the old, in with the new. Kind of. In my case, I'm skipping over the traditional resolutions of losing weight and saving money(though, they are on my list, just towards the bottom), and going with a couple of main ones. One, to draw more and actually complete what I started, and Two, have a full portfolio to show at San Diego Comic Con 2011, including comic pages. That is somewhat a new direction for me.

I place colors on comic pages as part of my job, but I have never actually drawn them. I have a good idea how the things are supposed to work, I've read comics and I enjoy them. I just never took that step into them. But my goal this year is to try, even if it results in an overly cute, overly obnoxious, overly pink comic page. And if I can't get on something like Witchblade or even something Marvel, maybe I can break into Anime/Manga. Maybe.

Part of completing those two goals will be to make sure I share my sketches and pieces, other than my ebay marker sketches, as a way to get me going. I don't know if it'll work, but its worth a try.

So here's to the New Year, hopefully I'll have something new to post soon.

When I was a kid, I used to watch the animated Batman series with my stepbrother all the time. My favorite character was, of course, Harley Quinn. Then, sometime later, she teamed up with Poison Ivy for some jewelry heist, and it was cartoon gold for me. A Girl Team. I didn't really care about the whole bad guy/good guy thing back then(I kinda still don't).
Then they had their little team up in Arkham Asylum. However brief,it served as a reminder for that long ago cartoon. So I did a little girl on girl mash-up of my dream team.

I got a feature on Holly Golightly's web-comic series, School Bites. Think of it as a school for Vampires without all the glittering in the sun..
On Fridays, Holly does a "Guest Strip" where artists can show their love and appreciation for Holly's work in their own interpretation. I was honored with the privelage of doing one myself, and of course chose the main character Cherri Creeper in her nightshirt with Anarchy Bunny. It came out rather cute if I do say so myself. Digital Piece - Poison Ivy

For the last month or so, I've been working on some digital art that has taken me awhile to get through. Mostly due to my job as a color flatter for Broadsword Comics keeping me busy.But I am happy to say that I finally finished my little project.
About a month ago, I was combing through a friend of mine's blog, looking at her modeling photos and I came across her photos portraying her as Poison Ivy of DC Comics. I thought she made a great Ivy and wanted to draw her as the character, though it wasn't one of the actual costume photos that I chose as reference, but one of her regular modeling photos. Thanks to her permission I was able to take it and run with it.
So first off, I want to thank Megan Vanburkleo for the use of her image and for being my muse in this. So here it is, Poison Ivy:

This was a grueling process for me, since my last actual piece that was even close to the amount of detail in this piece, was back in December. This piece made me break my limits, because I didn't want to half-ass it, I really wanted something that I was 100% proud of to show off and be able to show people and not be put off by the fact that it wasn't really something. I think I did it here and I was able to show, not just everyone else, but myself that I'm capable of doing extreme details. I put a lot into this. So I want to show off what this piece started off as, and the amount of detail.

I've been pretty busy finishing up the flats for Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose Issue 61, but I haven't neglected my art too much. Currently I'm working on some digital art, featuring a friend of mine, which I hope to finish soon. I also have a stack of sketches, both marker and pencil that I need to upload. But I have these two all ready for everyone.
First up is Psylocke:

I just got done reading the full series of Uncanny X-Men:Sisterhood, and was reintroduced to Psylocke, so I had to give her a shot. I also have a thing for the ties that she and several other Marvel characters, wear around their waists, so that was pretty fun to draw.

Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose

A couple of years ago, at Star Wars Celebration IV, I met Jim Balent and Holly Golightly, both artists, and badgered both of them constantly about my artwork. Both of them were kind enough to critique and offer me advice. Another great thing about them, is that they run their own comic book company, Broadsword Comics, and have a hit comic, Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose. A few months after I met them, Jim contacted me about doing Flat Work for their comic and had me do a test page to see if I could handle it, and I've been working for them ever since.
Early last year, I asked Jim for a commission of me as a Dragon Witch, as the Dragon Witches in Tarot are my favorite characters to look at, and he did a marvelous job of drawing me as a Snow Dragon Witch. Along with the drawing came the offer of actually being a character in Tarot, as he really liked drawing me as the Dragon Witch. I accepted and posed for it and in December, I got the inks to start flatting.
The issue actually came out last month, but I'm happy to finally be able to share the results with everyone.

He also made the drawing he did for me, a litho and made another one to accompany the actual comic:

Digital Piece - Sailor Moon

As a child, I used to watch Cartoon Network's Toonami all the time. In fact, I could barely wait to get home from school in order to watch my favorite show, Sailor Moon. If I walked to my aunt's house from school, I would run and get there just in time for the opening bit. If I took the bus, I would talk my dad into recording the episode on VHS(yes that far back) and rewind the tape as soon as I got home.
Sailor Moon is one of the main reasons I started drawing. I was so enamored by the characters, that I just had to doodle them on everything that remotely resembled paper. To this day, I still get urges to draw the characters, and every now and then, I actually go through with it and this would be the fruit of that urge:

I usually go for the Manga version of Sailor Moon, as I like her outfit and personality better in the graphic novels then that of the anime now-a-days. But here, I went for the classic anime look of Sailor Moon, including the cat, Luna, who in the Manga, has blue eyes, as well as the multi-pastel colored background complete with bubbles that would show up each and every time Sailor Moon either transformed, began to attack or had a brilliant idea. Every year we go to the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo. And every year I do a sketch of my favorite adult star, Jesse Jane. This year was no different. Here's the sketch I did for her this year:

Jesse Jane was one of our first stops at the convention, so I gave her the drawing right away and even got a photo with her holding the sketch:

All in all, it was a pretty good day. She seemed to really like the drawing, which is all I care about.

Here's a sketch of Emma Frost from X-Men. My plan is to eventually post it for sale on ebay.

She happens to be one of my favorite characters and I'm quite happy with this sketch.
